My expectations

Months before I came here I had a dream which I was in Barcelona. The Buildings in that dream were huge and the colours of the city were exaggerated, just like in cartoons. After that dream I realized that I don’t know much about Barcelona. Before coming here I expected that Barcelona would be lively, cultural city and the spanish are friendly and social people. And here will be lots of palm trees. Well the first thing I paid attention when coming outside the airport terminal were the palm trees but my conceptions have changed a lot. I knew that people here speak Catalan and wish for the independence, but I didn’t realize that it’s really a big thing. One thing that was surprise was the thing we have already discussed in different situations that customer service is in many cases unresponsive or even rude. Generally spanish are friendly and helpful if I ask for directions for example. Another thing I haven’t got used to is the macho culture. Finnish guys don’t shout or whistle after women like Spanish do. Before coming here I expected that the climate would be a little bit warmer… But anyway, I have enjoyed my stay were much and I’ll be missing this city and the people I met here. These 3 months have been above my expectations if you know what I mean :)
And merry, merry christmas. Ho, ho, ho!
