Assignment 4 Impression and contrast
I wasn´t aware at all that Barcelona was a city in Catalunya. Actually I wasn´t aware at all that Catalunya excisted. So I was thinking I was going to Spain up untill a few days before my departure. This was when I saw a documentary on national geographic that was about Barcelona.
That´s when I realize Barcalona was not a good place to learn Spanish. What it ment more I started realizing in my period here....
Especially in the ctalan culture class I learned to know a lot more about the catalan culture. Because in real life I must say ( and yes I am ashamed of this) I didn´t get to know any catalan people.
This makes it kind of difficukt for me to compare the catalan culture to my own out of personal experiences. What comes up to me now is that I am used to a little more distance (kissing the first time you meet?? no way)
and a little more politeness (pushing instead of asking someone to move...???) and a little less familyfeeling (when did I email for the last time???)
Maybe the biggest difference was the attention from men. If you´re blond and need a self esteem boost...this is the place to go!!!
