Assignment 3
My experience of a cultural event in Barcelona took place in one of the most important opera houses in the world?Yes, I visited the Gran Teatre del Liceu at a wednesday night in november. I have just once been to an opera before, that is why I thought it could be a nice thing to do while being in Barcelona. I informed myself how much the tickets will cost and was really surprised that they were not expensive at all.That?s why I bought 2 tickets, one for me and one for my friend. This were the cheapest tickets and they just cost me ? 7,-- each. Even though our seats were on the highest gallery, we did enjoy it a lot. It was a concert performance of the opera Maria Stuarda (lyric tradegy in three acts) with music by Gaetano Donizetti. What I found really astonishing was that at the end, the people gave standing ovations for Edita Gruberova, who played the Mary. The applause seemed to be never ending and many people threw red roses on the stage and put their banners up?an amazing atmosphere. I did not expect that something like this happens in an opera house.
