Assignment 3; My expectations before I came to BCN
I have been in Barcelona once, before I came here to study. It was with school, and we were visiting several IT companies. We stayed at a hotel at the plaza Reial. I didn’t see much of the city then. We walked across the Rambla and Plaza Catalunya and at night we went to the Mare Magnum. The only cultural things we saw were the Sagrada Familia and the Parc Guell.
Of course I knew about the Catalan language, but I did not know that the need for independency was that strong. And I did not know about the caracteristic of the catalan people. So I didn’t expected that the differences between the catalan people and people from other parts of Spain were so stong.
Last summer I took spanish courses in Alicante, in the south-east of spain, and I expected that the people here in Barcelona were like the people there. But they were not. I thought that the people here would have dinner very late. Like about half past 10. But it was a bit earlier. Like 9/ 9:30. And people in BCN don't live so much on the streets like in Alicante.
