Assignment 2: 3 local people.
It´s me again, Patricia!
I talked to some local people, here at school and in some clubs, we always ended u talking about Catalonia and Spain and their differences.
There was this guy, I almost argued with, just because I didn´t really understood what the fuzz was al about. He told me that Catalonia is a different country, it is just in another country, Spain. They want to be different, just like the Dutch don´t want to be German or the other way around. They don´t speak the same language, and They don´t want to either. That´s what I noticed: before we came here, they told us that if you speak Spanish, they will too. Well, that happens sometimes, but definately not always!
This other girl I was talking to, said that Spanish people think they are better than the people from Catalonia. And that Spanish people think the Catalan people exaggerate. She said that Catalans are definately different from the Spanish, because of the language, the food and the traditions.
Another girl said exactly the same, about the way the Spanish act towards Catalan people. I never thought that it was such a big issue in this country, before I came to Barcelona. But after the example of the Dutch and the Germans I really understood the problem. Foreigners always think that Holland is Amsterdam, and the rest is Germany. I always get a little bit irritated when people think this. So now I respect the differences more between Catalonia and Spain.
