Assignment 4
I had been to Barcelona before briefly so i knew a rough idea about what it was like and what to expect.
One thing i didn't know was about the Catalan side of things. I only found out about it two weeks before coming and i got very worried that no one would speak Spanish, therefore i would not be able to communicate with anyone as i can only speak a little bit of Spanish.
When comparing Barcelona to my home country England and Birmingham where i study. I would say that Barcelona is much more of a tourist place and because of this they have had to improve a lot of things like the public transport, places to visit and the general look of the place. Birmingham has been changing it image a lot over the last 5 years. Cleaning up and building a lot more hotels, restaurants, shops etc. They are now the new shopping capital in Europe since the new BullRing centre has been going. One claim to fame is the fact that we have more canals in Birmingham than in Venice.
I do like Barcelona a lot but i have to say the whole pick pocketing thing dose put me off a lot i am always aware. At home i never need to think about it.
I feel like i have done Barcelona and i would not plan to come back here for a long time in less for a special reason of course. Like to meet up with everyone for a reunion!
