Assignment 4
My expectations concerning this three month period were mostly to learn a little bit of Spanish and to improve my English. I wanted to get to know a new culture and people and to have a good time here in Barcelona! And most of all I wanted to be in some warm place when it is normally raining ice cold water in Finland :).
The first difference, which comes up to my mind, between Spain and Finland is that "mañana"-thing. In Finland if something should happen today it really means today but here I have had to get use to different time perception. People are not so busy and they maybe not have so strict timetables as we do.
Another thing that I have had get use to are the eating hours. In Finland we normally eat lunch aroud eleven o´clock so I am always starving on that time. Locals also eat dinner at funny time because it is unusual to eat so late In Finland.
The smoking culture is also totally different here than in Finland. We have very strick rules and laws where you can or can not have your cigarettes. Here it is allowed to smoke almost anywhere.
