ASSIGNMENT 2
What makes Cataluña different from the rest of Spain?
I have been talking to different kind of people and some of them have thought a lot about it and some of them don't really care that much... So I am going to write a summary of what they told me. A Catalan girl was telling me that she was raised of her parents to just talk in Catalan. So when she stared school, she was confused because she needed to speak Castellano. She wanted people to know that she was from Cataluña and was very proud of her language:Catalan. She also told me that there was a demonstration to persuade Warners to make a version of Harry Potter in Catalan in 2002. They did make one.

I asked a guy from Madrid, but he was not really helpful and did not really care.... A good friend of mine was telling me that she thought that people from Cataluña had the same feeling about the rest of Spain like she had from "Spain the peninsula". She is from Mallorca and she is also very prude about it. So she would never say" I am from Spain" she would say " I am from Mallorca".

Everybody mentioned that Cataluña have their one flag, dance, food, songs, artist, theater, music and so on...So they actually have their one culture, but still the people I talked with did not think that Cataluña should be independent. They wanted to be under Spain. Another Catalan friend was telling me that Cataluña "made a lot of money on tourists" and that Cataluña actually was "rich" but that Madrid took a lot of the money and spend it elsewhere. He thought the money made in Cataluña should stay in Cataluña and make it even better.

All this are things have been interesting to find out. Because you need to speak to the people and getting more knowledge about the culture. So I think this assignment have been the best one:-) As this was my last one, I will like to say : "Thank you" and enjoy the rest of the stay here in Barcelona!
